I have always been passionate about food whether cooking or eating it. My brother, Carlos of Uncle Nino’s BBQ, turned me on to cooking at an early age. There were times growing up when he would ask me to help him and I would jump at the chance. Baking pies, Grandma’s dinner rolls, or a simple breakfast or dinner, I was in. Heck, he was my boss at my first job as a prep cook/bus boy/dishwasher/waiter/focaccia maker. He taught me a ton. The day he taught me how to run a smoker, it was life changing. He entered a rib cook off and he won. It was a total rush. I swear the next day I bought my own smoker and my journey began. 

I am a full time union electrician by trade in IBEW Local 6. That is where the “sparky” comes from in Sparky-Q. I will do some small caterings during the year and will continue to enjoy my hobby entering competitions. I have really enjoyed the few competitions I have entered. I have met some awesome people and learned a ton. I will post about the competitions and other things BBQ related. If you’re ever out at one of the events I’m at, please come say hi.
